Study plan
How to Pass the Cisco Certified DevNet Professional (DEVCOR) Exam
A study plan for the Cisco Certified DevNet Professional (DEVCOR) certification exam, built from the official domain weights instead of a generic template. Use the official exam topics as a checklist and spend 10 to 12 weeks preparing. Begin with Python and REST API fundamentals, then practice with Cisco DevNet Sandboxes to build real API confidence. Create small projects with Meraki, Webex, and DNA Center APIs. Use Docker and CI/CD tools to automate deployment. Run Ansible and Terraform labs for infrastructure automation. Reserve time for security topics, webhooks, and OAuth flows, which are common weak areas.
- 5 domains
- 100 questions
- 120 min
- 82% to pass
Study in weight order, not topic order
The plan below follows the official blueprint weights, so the order of study is the order that returns the most points.
- 1
Understanding and Using APIs
20%- REST API request construction and response parsing
- HTTP methods, headers, status codes, and errors
- API authentication and authorization with API keys, Basic auth, and OAuth 2.0
- Pagination, filtering, sorting, and rate limiting
- +2 more topics in the blueprint
20 practice questions tagged to this domain.
- 2
Infrastructure and Automation
20%- Model-driven programmability with YANG, NETCONF, and RESTCONF
- Network automation with Ansible
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Model-driven telemetry and streaming telemetry

Three phases, in order
Most failures are process failures, not knowledge failures.
Phase 1 — Learn the high-weight domains
Start where the points are. The first domains on this plan carry the most weight, so a gap there costs the most. Cover the objectives, then close each topic with practice questions you actually get wrong.
Phase 2 — Close the mid-weight domains
The middle of the blueprint is where most candidates plateau. These domains are worth less per topic than the first phase, but they add up fast, and they are the usual difference between a near miss and a clear pass.
Phase 3 — Timed full mocks
Stop reading new material at this point. Run full-length exams under the real time limit and the real format, and use the per-domain breakdown to find which domain is still costing you the pass.
Where we put the emphasis
Certilum focuses on applied network automation: mastering REST API semantics, Cisco platform onboarding flows, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure-as-code. The preparation approach emphasizes hands-on Python exercises and scenario-based simulations aligned with the 350-901 blueprint.
The order matters less than the loop. Every domain you finish should end with questions you got wrong, because the mistake is the only thing you actually needed to study. On the Cisco Certified DevNet Professional (DEVCOR) that loop is worth 20% of the exam in the first block alone.
