Program Management Professional Exam Format

PgMP

Everything the official exam blueprint specifies: question count, time limit, scoring and the weight each domain carries. The Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification is a premier credential offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) designed for seasoned professionals capable of managing complex programs. Unlike project management, which focuses on specific outputs, program management focuses on achieving strategic business objectives and realizing benefits through the coordinated management of multiple related projects. The exam assesses a candidate's ability to align program components with organizational strategy, manage complex stakeholder landscapes, and ensure the continuous delivery of value. It requires a deep understanding of the program lifecycle, from initial definition and setup through execution and eventual closure, emphasizing the governance frameworks necessary to maintain control over interdependent workstreams.

Note from the vendor record: Active. Format: panel review must be passed before scheduling the exam (~60 days process); eligibility requires 48 months project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 or 84 months program management experience within the past 15 years (Sets A/B/C), so PMP is an alternative to documented project experience rather than a hard prerequisite. Exam delivered at Pearson VUE; up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period, after which a one-year wait applies. Renewal: 60 PDUs per 3-year cycle (35 Education minimum, 25 Giving Back maximum) plus renewal fee.
