CompTIA A+ (Core 2) Exam Format

220-1202

Everything the official exam blueprint specifies: question count, time limit, scoring and the weight each domain carries. CompTIA A+ (Core 2), exam code 220-1102, is the second required exam for the CompTIA A+ certification. It validates the operational skills IT professionals need to support modern operating systems, identify and mitigate security threats, troubleshoot software problems, and apply operational procedures. The exam focuses on Windows administration, command-line tools, macOS and Linux basics, mobile device security, malware removal, backup and recovery, and professional communications. The exam contains multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and performance-based questions. It is scored on a scale of 100 to 900, and the required passing score is 700. CompTIA recommends 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in IT support before taking the exam. Candidates must also pass Core 1 (220-1101) to earn the A+ certification.
