Better Business Cases™ Practitioner Exam Format
Everything the official exam blueprint specifies: question count, time limit, scoring and the weight each domain carries. The Better Business Cases™ (BBC) Practitioner certification is an advanced-level credential designed for professionals who need to develop, appraise, and manage robust business cases using the UK Government's Five Case Model. This certification goes beyond the Foundation level by requiring candidates to demonstrate the ability to apply the model in practical, real-world scenarios. The exam assesses a candidate's competence in creating a coherent business case that covers the strategic, economic, commercial, financial, and management perspectives. It covers the full lifecycle of an investment decision, from making the initial case for change through to benefits realization. Key topics include options appraisal, financial analysis techniques (such as NPV and IRR), risk and sensitivity analysis, and benefits management planning. This certification is critical for professionals involved in public sector procurement, infrastructure projects, and large-scale private sector investments, ensuring that business cases are transparent, evidence-based, and aligned with organizational objectives. Passing the Practitioner exam demonstrates that an individual can independently lead the business case development process and critically review existing business cases. The syllabus is structured to cover four domains: The Case for Change, The Five Case Model, Application of the Five Case Model, and Benefits Management and Realization. Candidates must understand how to justify investment decisions, identify and manage risks, and ensure value for money throughout the project lifecycle. The certification is recognized across multiple industries, especially in government, healthcare, defense, and infrastructure sectors globally.
